Album Description : Jennica Scott (vocals) and Jeremy Burchard (music/vocals) met as members of the Longhorn Band at UT-Austin: Jennica played trumpet and Jeremy played tenors in the drum line. They began by recording Reckless Kelly’s “Wicked Twisted Road” and “Hotel California” by the Eagles just for fun. Meanwhile their video set to the Eagles tune, without any publicity, drew over 40,000 views. After much time had passed, in late Fall 2010, they joined forces once more when Jeremy asked Jennica to do some original music for a one-off show in December. After that show, they realized that their music was something special. In mid January 2011, Jeremy and Jennica made it official when they chose the band name Moonlight Social.

As a duo their talents offer an undeniably refreshing sound. Their lyrics have powerful messages. Their music flows beautifully with powerful, crisp and melodic voices and vocals.

In May 2011 Moonlight Social released their debut EP of the same name, with single “Neither Are You” leading the way. “The single is a tag line of the chorus and really the emotional crux of the song. It represents the sort of catharsis building up throughout the whole thing”, states Burchard. It is the realization of one’s efforts to change another person thinking that it will do the same for you. The vocals and harmonies in this single create a flawlessly textured, layered effect that isn’t heard every day.

They utilize vocal abilities rather than getting absorbed in the electronic technical aspect of developing music. Voice, guitar and a little bit of tech support is all they need to bring their audiences to their knees with such passionate, thought-provoking and poignant music. They write very original music, reminiscent of Peter, Paul and Mary from decades ago. It’s a joy to listen to and a joy to experience such harmony in their arrangements that seem to become infectious. Their music promotes internal balance due to the combination of what they sing and how they sing it. All I know is that after listening to their music I felt a calm that I hadn’t felt in many, many years. Thank you Jennica and Jeremy – I needed that.

• Moonlight Social was selected by Ray Benson (Grammy-winning front man of Asleep at the Wheel) to play a SXSW showcase on his stage.

• They were selected by board members of the Texas Chapter of the Recording Academy to compete in a showcase. They won and will be recording a single with a Grammy-nominated producer.

• Their music has received many accolades with the Hit Song Science rating system, with 3 of the 6 EP tracks winning a Platinum Auddy Award, signifying that the “underlying musical patterns of (these songs) are similar to songs that have been hits for a long time.”

• A fourth song off the EP won a Gold Auddy.

Currently Moonlight Social is doing shows in downtown Austin at venues such as Momo’s, Lucky Lounge, etc., and throughout the central Texas area. They hope to plan a state-wide tour soon, however no dates have been discussed at this time.

Moonlight Social uses a back-up group for live performances. During the recording process, Jeremy plays all the instruments and together Jeremy and Jennica write all their own lyrics, as well as the song arrangements.
